Textual Analysis


              
Sub-Genre
Back To The Future has a Sci-Fi  Genre because it contain lots of futuristic time travel to it and it also has a lot of comedy and adventure to it because Marty McFly travels back in time to change his life which means meeting his parents in the past and he's is trying to change his future. also the comedic genre also takes place in the film because it shows how he goes to the past and then his own mother fancies him and many people can find it amusing.

Conventions
The typical features of the movie is that it has time travel, in which shows how a man travel back and forth in time trying not to destroy the space time continuum. also it shows that a man went back to the past in the time of the wild west. also it shows how he goes to the future and it has futuristic new technology like flying cars and hover boards. it also shows a mad scientist

Target Audience
The target audience is very lenient as it can be for all ages with the amount of comedy and for people who enjoy Sci-Fi. but the problem is that it can contain mild inappropriate language so it can limit the minimum age to be at least 3+.
Sub-Genre
Star Wars had a variety of complex genres, it mostly can consist of action adventure of a group of people travelling through space where they encounter different different planets with different species like little bears known as Ewoks and a large Wookie known as Chewbacca while they're in the middle of a war. Also they also have Comedy as it shows how different species try to get along and how they try to sort their differences.

Conventions
The feature it has to consist of a Sci-Fi film is that it contains many different types of space ships and different species from another planet. it also has the different species from many different planets where aliens and humans all can end up with the same kind of Jedi powers.

Target Audience
The rate of action and adventure can influence many young adults and kids as well as normal adults that enjoy Sci-Fi. Also this film is a classic so many old adults can enjoy this as well. Apart from the minor violence the movie is aged 12+


Sub-Genre
Terminator: Genisys also has a variety of sub-genres, one that is almost obvious is action about how a robot is sent back in time to kill someone. It also shows time-travel because this movie is set in the future and the present.

Conventions
The features that it has to be a Sci-Fi film is that it has robots with organic human tissue, it has time-travel and it has a lot of action.

Target Audience
The target audience for this movie can be difficult to conclude. the rate of action, explicit language and humor can limit this movie to a 15+, which is ironic because the other Terminator films have also been a 15+.

    WWW- You are using media language confidently and also really engaging with some of the science fiction terminology such as 'time travel' and 'robotics'. You also use good examples from the text to back up your ideas.
    EBI- Your level of detail could be even better if you think about the connotations (associations) of some of the key conventions you have noticed. Be careful not to re-tell the plot but analyse aspects of the film in as much detail as you can. :)
